Missionary
Moments--International:
Stan Stepleton works in El
Salvador and recalls that
first meeting of the deaf in
Antigua, Guatemala.
Stan accompanied Gustavo,
leader of Iglesia del Camino
(Church of the Way), to the
central square in Antigua to
locate a deaf young man who
shined shoes. Sure
enough, there was
12-year-old Juan, who showed
them his deaf school with 25
students. After lunch, they
arrived at Juan's house.
Two of Juan's five brothers
and sisters are deaf.
That's where their first
class in Antigua took
place--on the small patio of
a rented room where Gustavo
presented God's story of
salvation with three deaf,
two hearing adults, and five
hearing kids. You had
a part in this divine
appointment, thanks to your
prayers and your support
through the Cooperative
Program. Pray for Stan
and for those who heard the
Gospel.
Missionary
Moments--North American:
Day-Spring Villa Women and
Children's Shelter in
Oklahoma is a certified
domestic violence shelter
housing up to 55 women and
children escaping from
domestic violence
situations, as well as women
who are homeless for other
reasons. Missionary
director Vanessa Kehl notes
that this faith-based
shelter provides timely
opportunities to share Jesus
with these people in crisis.
This important ministry
opportunity needs your
prayers and your continued
faithful participation
through the Cooperative
Program. Pray for the
staff of Day-Spring as they
minister to women and
children in difficult
circumstances. Pray
for Anthony, Vanessa's
husband, as he encourages
her in this challenging
ministry.
